ISO/CEN/ANSI versus Traditional Verification
There are two main standards of printed symbol verifiers: Traditional and ISO/CEN/ANSI. The original verifiers were all of traditional standard and were designed to check the basic parameters for barcodes that were generated from a film master, and are still applicable in these circumstances.
In order to incorporate the many new methods of barcode generation the American and European national standards associations ANSI and CEN have developed a more interrogative set of standards that measure a comprehensive range of parameters, to ensure thorough checking of all printed barcode symbols.
These CEN/ANSI standards have recently been adopted by ISO to become a world-wide acceptable standard for barcode verification.
